What is an abacus? Is it a technique or something else?
An Abacus is an instrument which was used in past for calculations. Even today, we give similar type of toy thing (beads arranged on the metallic or plastic rods, fixed in a frame) to our children for learning counting. Modern researches have shown that Abacus is very useful in balanced brain development.
How much time will be required everyday to learn this skill? Will it effect the normal studies of the child ?
Regularity in attending the weekly classes and regular practice for just 15 minutes per day is what is required for Abacus. This will not hamper with the normal studies of the child as it will be complimenting the studies.
Is Abacus always required for the calculations, even in the later stage of studies ?
Not at all. Abacus instrument will be used only in the preliminary stages. The child will learn to bring the image of the Abacus in front of him and make the calculations.
Isn't the school good enough ?
